4:25 p.m.
Good afternoon. We are back in our room at the Mariposa Inn now. I was at the pool for a while but too many loud, obnoxious kids were there so I did not go in. But I digress.
The day started very leisurely with a late breakfast at Shopsy's with the waitress bringing us wrong orders.
After we went back home to pack up the cooler and food (the rest of the car was packed already) and headed off at noon.
There was already traffic on Highway 400 so it took us a little longer than usual to get to Orillia. It was funny being back here three weeks after we came up to Fern Resort.
Our room was not ready when we arrived so we went to the variety store next door and then to Kelsey's for lunch. For the first time we sat in front of the restaurant.
We came back and got our room. It was very nice with a king size bed and a fridge.
That's all for now.
Saturday, August 5
12:45 a.m.
Good morning. We just got back from Casino Rama. Tonight we took the shuttle to the casino. Once there we went to the restaurant in the hotel for dinner and then went to see Wayne Brady. To say it was funny would be an understatement. It was an improv comedy show with Brady calling for volunteers from the audience for suggestions.
After the show, we went to the casino and after losing $30, I walked away with $71.
The shuttle ride back was not as great as our hotel was at the end of the route. So it took 45 minutes to get back to the hotel.
Well, I am exhausted now, so until later, goodnight.
5:50 p.m.
Good afternoon.
Wow! What a busy day and a fun one. This morning we had breakfast at the hotel and eventually checked out, stopping in Orillia to buy Jordana a cup for her hot chocolate and then to A&P to buy her goodies.
By then it was around noon and we decided to go back to the casino. I lost $40 and Lisa lost $20 before winning $12.25 on $5 bet.
We left Rama and Orillia and headed north to Bayview-Wildwood resort to check it out. Fist thing we noticed was the small pool. Well, that ruled that resort out as a possible summer spot.
Continuing north on Highway 11, we eventually reached our cut-off at Hwy 118. We decided to go visit our friends Frank and Maryann at Bangor Lodge. Before we did that though, we went into Bracebridge for lunch at Harvey's. Then we headed to Bangor (getting lost along the way).
Our friends were surprised to see us and we had a great visit seeing their cottage and the resort. We stayed about 30 minutes and continued on our way, arriving in Halliburton and the Lakeview Motel around 5:30.
As I said at the outset, it's been a busy day.
Til later.

9:10 p.m.
Hi. We just came back from dinner in Halliburton. After my last entry, I went on the porch to read while Lisa took it easy for a while. We finally left for dinner at 7:30. We had Chinese food and then went for a walk. Guess that's all for today.
Tomorrow is visitor's day. So until next, take care.
Sunday, August 6
6:49 p.m.
Hi. It's me (of course!)
We got home at 5:45, 3 hours and 15 minutes after leaving Camp Northland, which is about right, especially since we stopped three times for breaks.
However, what a busy day it has been, rising before our planned 7:30 wake-up. We had breakfast at the motel and then headed to the camp.
Jordana was so glad to see us, especially since we arrived early. What a surprise we got. Her girlfriend straightened her hair and she put part of it in a ponytail, so she has long straight hair. We talked a lot and she showed us her cabin. We met her unit head and counsellors as well as Jordana's friends' parents from Toronto.
The corned beef and pastrami were delicious.
Alas, all too quickly visitors' day quickly ended. We left at 2:30, just 15 minutes before the official end of the day, headed west along Highway 118 to Highway 11, down through Hwy 400 and 407, and home.
I guess everything is over now for Summer Vacation 2006: Fern, Orillia, Haliburton and Visitor's Day. All well thought out, planned and executed. They are history now with plenty of great memories.
So, on behalf of Lisa and Jordana (who is still far away at Camp Northland-B'nai Brith, but not far from out thoughts), I would like to say:
Goodbye, Farewell and Amen.
